Why You Feel “Blah” (And How to Get Out of It)

energy work getting unstuck Mar 30, 2026

Hey lovebug,

Welp. I don’t know what is going on lately, but everything has been feeling blah lately.

For me. For Lauren, my assistant. For my sisters. For my close friends.

It could be that it’s March and still dreary here in Portland.

It could be the sad craziness of the world.

I don’t know.

I thought I’d send a quick note about how I deal when I’m feeling blah.

First off, I go through the phase of WHY?

WHY do I feel so bad?

What’s going on?

How long is this going to last? And then, WHY hasn’t it shifted already?

After that, I start asking questions—namely, IS THIS MINE?

Often, the blah I’m feeling ISN’T mine and just that knowing will shift me back into my body and will move that person’s energy out of my field.

If it is mine, then we go onto the next step.

I ask what I’m grieving.

Oftentimes, when I’m feeling blah it’s a smokescreen for some kind of grief.

We often think of grief as the expression of loss of a loved one.

But grief can also be the feeling that expectations weren’t met or the death of a dream or the slow reality of watching yourself or your dear ones age.

It can be the feeling that the world you’re living in isn’t the world you envisioned for yourself and you don’t feel like you have control over that.

Grief can be all kinds of things.

And you don’t need to know what you’re grieving exactly, it can be enough to hear the small part of you admit that yes, you are grieving.

If you are grieving, then give yourself real pockets of time to cry, to sob, to wail, to sit and stare off… let the expression of grief roll out of you.

If you’re not grieving, the next step is to move your body.

ANNOYING. OMG. This step is SO annoying.

And I’m talking cardio here where you are a bit out of breath.

Running. Zumba. Dancing. Trampoline. Rebounder. WHATEVER.

Your breathing moves stuck energy and the blah is most definitely stuck energy.

The final step is to do something creative.

Again, I can hear you groaning.

But I will never forget the wise woman (I can’t remember who) who once said, “If you’re depressed, it’s often because something needs to be expressed.”

Write a terrible haiku.

Bake a cake.

Create a charcuterie board.

Do a paint by number.

Learn a TikTok dance.

Start some seeds in the garden.

It doesn’t have to be traditional creativity, but it needs to be an act of creation.

(Sex also counts, but that actually probably goes under the move your body category.)

Over time, the blahs move on with these steps.

I will also add that you can have an entity, an energy vampire, a psychic attack or any other number of metaphysical things going on with you.

If you do all these steps and you still feel off, book a reading.

Let’s pull out all the stops so you feel better.

Big hugs,

Rebecca*
