Stop doing his homework for him
Oct 01, 2026Hi lovebug,
You know those high school movies from the 80s and 90s where the nerdy girl would do the popular boy’s homework in hopes that maybe one day he’d like her?
I remember watching those movies and not thinking anything of it, except maybe how dreamy the guy was.
But it’s problematic.
That girl-does–boy’s-homework-for-him is an old trope and an annoying one.
And the programming is pervasive.
I see it showing up with the women who come to me for energy work and readings.
Their husband is stuck but also refuses to do his own work.
So they want to see if I can do it for them.
The woman is STILL trying to do their husband’s homework.
Now don’t get me wrong. I fall into this category. I’m not going to leave myself out of this habit.
I have been so fed up, so frustrated, so scared, so hopeless, so worried and so desperate that I would do just about anything to try and get my partner to freaking HEAL and GROW already.
Because I thought that would make my life better.
(And it’s true - when your partner does his work, life can get so much easier.)
But it didn’t work for me to do it for him.
The ONLY thing that worked was to either 1) communicate my needs to him 2) work on myself or 3) accept that my partner is who he is 4) call a spade a spade and exit the relationship.
One of the cool things about the Emotion Code® is that I’ve had a number of clients where their husbands saw - first hand! - a huge difference in their wives… so they decided to do their own energy work packages.
Yes. That’s the move.
So if you’ve been wanting your partner to do the work, but you’ve hit a wall, may I suggest… The Emotion Code®.
The men who have done sessions with me have noticed HUGE changes in their daily lives.
Less aggressive reactivity.
An improved ability to express their feelings.
More confidence in being able to trust their intuition.
A dramatic change in not taking things personally.
Plus they get to do something that most men don’t often do: to talk about their memories and their feelings and then release them.
And we do the work through the lens of stories so it’s accessible to guys who haven’t known what to talk about in therapy.
If you think your husband or partner might be interested in checking out the Emotion Code®, I’d love to chat with him.
It could be a big win for both of you.
If you have questions, you can always reply to this email. I read every one.
Hugs,
Rebecca*
